Hype vs. Substance: Navigating AI in the Workplace

This morning in our team meeting, we had a candid conversation about AI in the workplace.

AI is everywhere — in headlines, in strategy decks, in casual conversations. But beyond the hype, the real question is: what value does it actually bring?

At TDC, we’ve made it a point to look at AI not as a buzzword, but as a tool.

To guide our thinking, we asked ourselves a few honest questions:

  1. What AI tools are we currently using?

  2. What are we using them for?

  3. Where have they genuinely helped?

  4. Where have they fallen short?

  5. What does the future look like?

  6. And importantly: how should we be using AI at TDC?

The answers weren’t final — and that’s the point. It’s an ongoing, evolving conversation. Technology will keep changing, and so will the way we apply it.

For us, one principle stands firm: we’re not interested in chasing hype for hype’s sake. If AI doesn’t add value for our clients, then it doesn’t add value for us.

Opening Up the Conversation

We’d love to hear from others navigating this space too:

  • Where are you seeing real impact with AI?

  • Where are your biggest challenges?

  • What opportunities do you see on the horizon?

Because the truth is, none of us have all the answers. But by sharing insights and asking the right questions, we can make sure AI is more than just hype — it’s a source of real, measurable value.
